After being here in Rwanda for almost three years, I finally got a car! It is a 2001 Toyota Vitz (a model unheard of in the U.S.), with only 121,000 km (72,000 mi), imported from Europe and Dubai, and in near perfect condition!
Even though I still have the energy to hike up and down the hills of Kigali (for who knows how much longer), having a car will make it easier and faster to get places, especially the far reaches of our territory. The Chinese and English speakers in the territory are scattered all over. We have Chinese return visits and Bible studies, for example, in such neighborhoods as Gacuriro, Masaka, Gatsata, Gisozi, Nyarutarama, and Nyamirambo. To get to one of these places by bus and on foot often takes an entire morning or afternoon. So now we can accomplish more! We can also now take the Chinese witnessing carts in the car instead of hauling them over the busy streets in town from their storage location.
I got a local brother (advantage: Kinyarwanda-speaking) who is a mechanic to help me with the car buying and registration process. We took parts of three days to accomplish it all. But it's all done now!
OK, so red is not my first choice. But it is a Chinese color....

Nice!
